Do I have to attend full time?

No, in the traditional program, you can go either part time or full time. The full time program is very intense and you will carry 14 - 18 credits per quarter. You will take nursing courses, attend clinical and lab and also complete required support courses.

All students must complete NURS 110 and NURS 100 as concurrent courses. Following these first-quarter courses, students may petition to follow the part time sequence. It will lengthen the time needed to complete the program. Full time students can finish in 7 quarters. Part time students finish at their own pace but often take 3 or more years.

Can I Chose My Clinical Site?

You can sign up for the available clinical sections as you do any other course. Unfortunately we do not always know which agencies we are using or who will be at each agency early enough to tell you. We can usually tell you about pediatric or adult sections and whether they are days or evenings. Please sign up for what is available, If you have any problems; see your advisor or the course leader. We try to accommodate students whenever possible.

Can I work full time?

IIt is possible to work full time if you are taking a part time course load but it is very difficult to work full time, attend classes full time, and be successful. The nursing program requires a great deal of studying and completion of clinical assignments. Students who have other significant time commitments often find it hard to be successful in nursing. Should you need to work full time you might consider the part time program.

Should I sell my books back?

No, please don't sell back your textbooks. You will need to keep all your nursing books. They will be used throughout the nursing program. As we progress and add new books we will still refer to certain areas in the fundamental, skills and pharmacology texts. Whether to sell books from the support courses is your decision.
