
Weiler Scholars Program
Columbus State is proud to partner with the Robert Weiler family to bring first-generation students and those from underserved populations the opportunity to earn a debt-free college bachelor’s degree. This program is for students who desire to earn an associate degree from Columbus State, then transfer on to earn a bachelor’s degree.
Program Benefits
- Program guarantees that full tuition and fees will be covered completely for two years at Columbus State
- Additional need-based funding is provided to each program participant to cover additional education-related expenses

Application Steps
To be eligible for the program, students must:
- Be a 2019 or 2020 high school graduate from a any high school in Franklin, Delaware, Madison or Union counties
- Have a final high school grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher
- Desire to graduate from Columbus State and transfer to a four year institution
- Demonstrate financial need as determined by FASFA Application
Priority admission is given to underrepresented minorities and first generation students
- Complete the free online application to Columbus State at cscc.edu/apply
- Complete CSCC general scholarship application – required prior to applying for WSP
- Submit the Weiler Scholars Program Specific Application and an unofficial high school transcript (Deadline May 1, 2020)
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA) at fafsa.ed.gov
- Request that SAT or ACT scores be submitted directly to the college
- Submit a minimum 500-word essay answering the following question: What does having grit and a growth mindset mean to you, and how would you apply those principles to succeed in college?
- Request that your official final transcript be sent to Terrence Lawrence 550 Spring St. Columbus Ohio 43215 WD 1102
- An interview is required for this program. Students must check their student email frequently and respond to the interview request.
To be successful in the program and meet renewal criteria, students must:
- Attend New Student Orientation at Columbus State
- Attend Early Arrival Program at Columbus State
- Maintain full time enrollment in autumn and spring semesters. Part-time summer enrollment may be required depending on student’s status.
- Complete and submit Academic Performance Reports
- Participate in monthly Weiler Scholar Growth Sessions
- Success Toolkit activities to prepare for academics and career decisions
- Attend regular meetings with the program director
- Attend advising/tutor appointments as assigned
- Meet satisfactory academic progress (SAP) toward degree requirements
- Maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher
- Maintain good standing with the College
