Peer tutoring is Free to Columbus State Community College students.
Any student who is enrolled in a course for credit at Columbus State Community College may receive tutoring.
The Peer Tutoring Program will provide tutoring services for most courses offered at Columbus State Community College.
The tutoring service is based on tutor availability. After completing your application, a 4-day waiting period will be needed in order to process your paperwork.
Tutors may guide student’s efforts in understanding concepts and forming models to solve problems. However, the tutors will not “do your homework”. They may answer questions and explain terms and concepts. Academic success depends on the student’s effort in developing strong academic behaviors. These academic behaviors includes attending class regularly, reading the textbook, preparing for tutoring session, and completing all homework assignments.
Pick up an application at the Center for Workforce Development, Room 1095 or download the Peer Tutoring Request form by going to the CSCC web site click on the tab Services for Students, Click on the title Tutoring, select the title Peer Tutoring Program, click on the Request Form, then print.
Tutors are students from CSCC who have received an “A” or “B” in their course(s) they desire to tutor. They must have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher. A faculty member at CSCC must recommend tutors before they are considered for employment. Tutors must complete the hiring process and tutor training before they begin tutoring students.
You must contact your tutor, and the peer tutoring coordinator (287-2474) at least 24 hours before your tutoring session.
The Friday of the 10th week of the semester.
You will meet with your tutor for two hours per week.
