Eligible Coursework for Aid
How do I remain eligible for financial aid and in compliance for financial aid at Columbus State Community College?
Federal Financial Aid regulations require each course a student is registered for be part of the student's Plan of Study in order for that course to be counted as "Federal Student Aid Eligible."
Federal Student Aid eligibility calculation cannot include classes that do not count toward the student's degree or certificate. Federal Financial Aid regulations require each course a student is registered for be part of the student's Plan of Study in order for that course to be counted as "Federal Student Aid Eligible." This funding is available for a maximum of 30 credit hours of pre-college level coursework over your academic career which includes ALL passing , withdrawn and failed courses.
Types of Federal Student Aid Affected By These Requirements
Federal Pell Grant
- Award will be pro-rated based on enrollment. To receive maximum amount must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 eligible hours per semester - may enroll in fewer hours and still be eligible for award.
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG)
- Student must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 eligible credit hours per semester to be eligible for award - amount does not pro-rate.
Federal Direct Student Loans
- Student must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 eligible credit hours per semester to be eligible for award - amount does not pro-rate.
Federal Work Study
- Student must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 eligible credit hours per semester to be eligible for award - amount does not pro-rate.

Determining courses for intended degree and/or certificate program
Columbus State utilizes a degree audit system to compare a student's academic coursework against a program's requirements - degrees and certificates.
To access the system, log in to https://daweb.cscc.edu/. If there is a prompt for an additional log in, use your current username and password that you use for all other Columbus State business.
