College students who are also parents create opportunities for themselves, their child/ren, and society at large when they receive adequate support. Below are some resources that may be useful as you and your child/ren navigate Columbus State and beyond.
Parenting Student College Resources
The U.S. Department of Education awarded Columbus State the CCAMPIS (Child Care Access Means Parents in School) Program grant, which is designed to help students achieve their academic goals by offering childcare vouchers and wrap-around support services. If approved to receive a CCAMPIS childcare voucher, funds will be paid directly to your childcare provider by the College.
Columbus State students must meet the following eligibility requirements:
1. Enrolled in a certificate or degree program at Columbus State
2. Federal Pell Grant award
3. Completed CCAMPIS Voucher application (click link below)
4. Documentation of Publicly Funded Child Care application (click link below)
Students who receive a CCAMPIS childcare voucher are asked to adhere to the following expectations:
1. Successfully complete at least 6 credit hours each semester
2. Earn a C or higher in each class and maintain no less than a 2.0 GPA
3. Meet with the CCAMPIS Coordinator
4. Follow all policies of your childcare provider’s facility
5. Minimize your child/ren’s absences at your childcare provider’s facility

Publicly Funded Child Care (Title XX) - Franklin County Department of Job & Family Services is offering Columbus State students the ability to explore their eligibility for public benefits in person or over the phone. Click HERE to schedule an appointment.
The Child Development Council of Franklin County, Inc. (CDCFC) operates the Center for Early Learning on Columbus State's downtown campus at 320 N. Grant Ave., serving infants through five-year-olds. First enrollment priority is for parenting students who meet Head Start program eligibility, with discounted costs available based on a family’s income. College employees who meet eligibility also receive priority consideration for enrollment.
PRC Emergency Assistance - Franklin County's Prevention, Retention, and Contingency (PRC) Plus Rental Assistance program provides one-time rental assistance payments for eligible families struggling to meet rent or facing eviction as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Parenting students are invited to use the Parent Lactation room located in the basement of Nestor Hall, 109B
This space will be on the library's second floor and will be designed for studying and collaborative work with small groups. Activities, games, and study areas will be available for your child(ren).
Provides resources and support for Pregnant & Parenting Students
Counseling Services can provide brief individual counseling for short-term treatment goals, vouchers for therapy co-payments, and free 24/7/365 telehealth counseling through Uwill.
