STEAMM Rising 2025 call for faculty
Update | Monday, March 24, 2025
Organizers of STEAMM Rising 2025 need assistance from faculty members to host an event showcasing the exciting things we’re doing at Columbus State in the classroom. STEAMM Rising (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math, Medical) will be held on Wednesday, June 4. An estimated 100 Columbus City Schools (CCS) teachers will come to the campus to see how you engage students in STEAMM-related topics.
STEAMM Rising is sponsored by a grant providing professional development for CCS teachers. Columbus State had the second opportunity last summer to host the CCS teachers on our campus, and it was an overwhelming success. They are excited to interact with us again, and we need a strong faculty group to provide presentations.
For planning purposes, at least six to nine faculty members would be involved, representing as many disciplines as possible. If you are interested or have questions, email Jeanette Ferguson, Biological & Physical Sciences professor, at jfergus1@cscc.edu. She must have the final list of presenters by Friday, April 10.
Your presentation will be part of the morning sessions showcasing Columbus State. The goal of is to introduce K-12 educators to the wide variety of professions that utilize STEAMM and to show off programs and courses at the college that can help students enter those professions. Note: Each session is limited to 45 minutes and should include ways that the lesson can be adapted to all grade levels.
