Two students selected as Cooke Scholarship semifinalists

Update | Monday, March 10, 2025

Two students from Columbus State – Heisenberg Francis and Shoaib Mezher – have been selected as semifinalists for the Jack Kent Cooke (JKC) Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship. More than 1,600 applicants from 212 community colleges in 43 states applied to the JKC Foundation for a scholarship. Of those, JKC selected 467 as semifinalists.

If selected as finalists in the next step, the scholarships provide as much as $55,000 per year for two-to-three years to complete a bachelor’s degree at any accredited four-year undergraduate institution in the United States. The JKC Foundation will announce the 2025 Undergraduate Transfer Scholars in May.
