The Student Advocacy Center has new updates for students on emergency rental and utility assistance, Franklin County Job and Family Services, and boxed food available at the Mid-Ohio Market at Columbus State. (The Student Advocacy Center is located in the Center for Workforce Development, rooms 1018 and 1022. Those rooms must be accessed from Grove Street, directly across from the Mid-Ohio Market.)

Emergency Rental and Utilities Assistance
Through the emergency Rental Assistance Grant funded by Franklin County, we have limited funds available to assist current students with past due rent or utilities payments. You may be eligible for assistance if you have a past due notice (rent or utilities,) are in good academic standing, and are currently enrolled and actively taking classes during the current Spring Semester. Franklin County Job and Family Services
The Covid-19 public health emergency is scheduled to be lifted on Thursday, May 11. On this date, the temporary changes that expanded eligibility for college students to qualify for food assistance through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) will end. The Student Advocacy Center encourages you to explore what resources you may be eligible for before the return to pre-pandemic requirements.

Representatives from Franklin County Job and Family Services are available to meet with current Columbus State Students who are residents of Franklin County. You can schedule an appointment to determine eligibility and apply for food assistance (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), Publicly Funded Child Care, Medicaid, or PRC Emergency Assistance. Mid-Ohio Market at Columbus State Cougar food boxes
The Mid-Ohio Market at Columbus State, located at 400 Grove Street on the Columbus (downtown) Campus, is a resource for students and community members with a qualifying need to access free fresh and shelf-stable food on a regular basis. Eligible shoppers will have a household income that is less than 200 percent of the federal poverty level.

Columbus State students who are unable to shop during open Mid-Ohio Market at Columbus State hours are eligible to schedule a time to pick up a premade box of current Mid-Ohio Market at Columbus State items. Schedule a pickup time at this link.
