The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) awarded Columbus State a recycling grant of nearly $100,000. The new grant will increase the capacity of the College to collect and recycle more materials. The funding will establish 50 new recycling stations using a campaign designed by Juan Chamochumbi, a Columbus State graduate and a member of the Facilities Support team.

Chamochumbi developed the slogan “Be the U in reUse” as part of the campaign. Facilities Management will have all recycling stations complete and ready for use by the end of 2022. By increasing access to recycling stations on campus, Columbus State will create a campus culture that is committed to sustainability and protecting the environment.
