Training offered to assist in hiring Federal Work-Study students

Update | Tuesday, July 6, 2021

If you have considered hiring Federal Work-Study (FWS) students for the 2021-22 year, special training is available and suggested. Student employees are an important piece of Columbus State’s community. One supervisor recently shared that student employees “bring great energy, they jump right into the work, and they push us to think of new ways to do things.”

If you have not hired previously and want to learn more about the department benefits of student employment – including available funding- and the types of positions and work that student employees can do, contact Amanda Perk, Career Services coordinator, at aperk1@cscc.edu.

Student employees may:

  • Assist with research
  • Provide office/administrative support
  • Assist with lab set up/tear down and storage
  • Support back-to-campus projects
  • Complete campus errands

All campus supervisors and staff – including functional supervisors – planning to hire student employees in the upcoming year should attend a Supervisor Training: Student Employment 2021-22 session to learn about program changes and updates.
