‘First day of college’ for Woodward Elementary students

Teams from the Delaware Campus faculty, Student Engagement, and the Learning Center, recently continued a tradition of giving fourth graders at Delaware’s Woodward Elementary School their ‘first day of college.’ The project requires assistance from administration, facilities, and public safety. 

On April 28 and May 3, the Delaware Campus served 65 students remotely via a series of Google Meets. Ruey Bruce’s team demonstrated a rocket launch. (Watch the launch on YouTube.) 

The Library team taught students to critically review information sources by examining the question of whether or not aliens and UFOs were real (see this library research guide for more information). 

The Delaware Student Engagement team combined the use of critical thinking skills and deductive reasoning to solve a puzzling mystery. The event was canceled last year due to the pandemic.
