A generous gift of used vehicles from the City of Columbus to Columbus State Community College is paying dividends in the Delaware Hall Automotive Technology Lab. Earlier in the month, Columbus City Council approved the donation of five vehicles to the College’s Automotive Technology Program.
“The College will use them for several years to better instruct the technicians that will be working in Columbus and the surrounding areas,” says Ian Andrews, assistant professor and program coordinator of Automotive Technology. “This donation will help the auto instructional fleet maintain technological currency while continuing to provide the quality instruction our students and employer partners expect.”
The donation adds to an ongoing collaboration between Columbus and the automotive program, which serves students and the community. The five donated vehicles – beyond their usual life cycle for city vehicles – were scheduled for auction. They include a 2012 Ford Fusion, 2010 Chevy Tahoe, 2011 Kia Sorento, 2017 Ford Explorer, and a 2010 Chevy Tahoe.
