Training available this month regarding minors on campus

Update | Wednesday, April 7, 2021

Whether you are interacting with minors virtually or in-person, we need your participation in a new round of discussions about non-College Credit Plus (CCP) contact with minors. All employees who staff non-classroom programs with minor children in attendance are required to participate in an informational session. It will cover the College’s new “Guidelines and Best Practices for Columbus State Programs Involving Minors.”

College-sponsored and co-sponsored events, programs, camps, activities, or trips that involve minors being left in the care of Columbus State employees are the focus of these guidelines. We will review best practices for registering your programs with the College, background checks, proper supervision, safety measures, and staff and participant behavior standards. Draft forms for program use prepared by our Legal Office will also be distributed.

There are three dates and times to choose for the training session.  If there are new staff members being assigned these duties, it will be essential to have them participate.

  • Tuesday, April 13 from 2-3 p.m.
  • Monday, April 19 from 10-11 a.m.
  • Thursday, April 22 from 1-2 p.m.

Please register at least 48 hours before the training session to receive an Outlook Calendar Teams invitation. Begin by logging into Cornerstone, go to the “Events Calendar” located under the “Learning” tab. Click on the event and select "Request" to register. See this link for search and registration tips.

If you have any questions that you would like to pose before a session, please send them to Professional Development and Retention (PDR) Specialist Morgan Sayre at msayre7@cscc.edu, and she will attempt to have answers during the meeting.
