Professor earns national automotive certification status

Update | Tuesday, September 21, 2021

Automotive Associate Professor Steve Levin has been recognized by the Ford Motor Company for holding and maintaining Ford Senior Master Certification Status for 20+ Years. Considering Levin is only one of 163 20-Year Ford Senior Master Technicians nationwide, the distinction is a rare feat.

To receive and maintain Senior Master Status, technicians must complete rigorous and comprehensive factory training online and in the classroom. Additionally, they must complete yearly update training while maintaining status as an active technician.

Further qualifications regarding Ford Master Technician Status include:

Master Technician requirements
First-time achievement in each category
Specialty curriculum requirements in one of the following areas:
Engine Master (Gasoline path or Diesel path)
Gasoline path - Includes specialties 31, 32, and 34
Diesel path - Includes specialties 51, 52, and 34
Drivetrain Master - Includes specialties 34, 36, and 37
Chassis Master - Includes specialties 33, 34, 35, and 38
Certification 30 – New Model Training (replacing the previous 2-elective requirement)

Requirements to achieve Master status only need to be met once during the program year, based on the requirements at that point and time. If Master certification later expires due to a missed New Requirement, the current program year recognition is not affected.

Five years minimum employment as a technician at a Ford or Lincoln dealership, as determined by the “Employment Job History” field in STARS, with the Job Title of Service Technician, Quick Lane Technician, Express Service Technician, Shop Foreman, Service Manager or Quick Lane Manager.
