Languages and Communication co-sponsored summer initiative

The Languages and Communication department co-sponsored an international summer program in Portuguese language and linguistics. Additional co-sponsors included the Center for Latin American Studies (CLAS) and the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at The Ohio State University (OSU). The initiative was titled Intensive Portuguese Abroad for Spanish Teachers (IPAST). The annual program in Brazil was held virtually this year due to the pandemic.

This agreement is part of a wider set of activities that the Spanish program at Columbus State, CLAS, and OSU have been collaborating on since 2012. After the pandemic started, both teams have been joined efforts to find ways to continue the collaboration to offer diverse educational products to our students. Columbus State’s Latin American Student Association Club has also been part of the collaboration, opening the activities to our students.
