Nominate students for All-USA and Coca-Cola academic teams

Update | Tuesday, September 14, 2021

The All-USA Academic Team and the Coca-Cola Academic Team programs will continue for the 2021-2022 academic year. The collaboration of Cengage, the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation, The Coca-Cola Foundation, and Phi Theta Kappa will award nearly $500,000 in scholarships to outstanding college students. Columbus State has the opportunity to receive national press recognition should one of our nominees be identified as a scholar.

In addition to recognition by Cengage and Coca-Cola, nominees to these programs are recognized in All-State Academic Team programs held in 39 states. All-State Team programs may offer academic scholarships, stipends, newspaper coverage, medallions, or certificates to scholars.

By nominating students to the All-USA Academic Team national program, we provide scholarship opportunities to All-State Team members to which they would otherwise not have access.

At this time, the College seeks your recommendation of students who should be encouraged to apply for these scholarship opportunities. In selecting nominees to represent our institution, organizers would like you to consider students with

  • Outstanding academic rigor and grade point averages
  • Participation in honors programs
  • Awards, honors, and recognition for academic achievement
  • Service to Columbus State and community.

In addition, the focal point of the application is an essay. This should center around one endeavor undertaken by the student that utilizes their two-year college education to improve their respective community or college. Judges look for innovative, creative, original, and lasting achievements or undertakings.

Please forward the names of students Columbus State should consider for nomination, as well as a brief summary as to why they would make a good candidate, by Monday, November 1.  The College will assist students in ensuring they have access to the application.  If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to contact Rebecca Mobley, professor of Social Sciences, at  rmobley@cscc.edu.
