Staff Employee of the Month

A librarian at the College was selected as the October Staff Employee of the Month for her efforts to give the Library a more robust online presence. Librarian Hydy Cates, came to Columbus State two years ago. 

She was nominated by Kristine Kinzer, a coordinator on the Delaware Campus. Kinzer says that when the physical campus locations closed due to COVID-19, the Library was able to quickly pivot to providing virtual services. “Hydy Cates’ extensive technical knowledge, patience, and willingness to collaborate were critical in implementing two library initiatives when the closure was announced. (She launched) a new Library homepage with an emphasis on electronic resources and setting up, testing, and implementing the Library’s chat reference service.
