Annual African-American Read-In Chain

Update | Tuesday, February 25, 2020

The annual African-American Read-In Chain celebrated its 25th anniversary at Columbus State on February 20. More than three dozen students, faculty, and community members attended the event in the Nestor Hall lounge, which featured authors including Michelle Obama, Safia Elhillo, Leah Penniman, and Lucile Clifton.

One highlight of the Read-In was a special dramatic performance of Paul Lawrence Dunbar’s “In the Morning” by Mifflin Middle School South teaching assistant, Dorina Conner.

The event included a commendation from Franklin County Treasurer Cheryl Brooks Sullivan’s office. WSXY-TV (ABC6) videotaped a portion of the readings and interviewed organizer Robyn Lyons-Robinson, professor of English. View the TV news clip at this link.
