April Martin, Nursing Department chairperson, collaborated with William Burton to publish Opioid Overdose and Addiction Treatment: A Collaborative Model of Compassion, Patience, and Respect in the Journal of Nursing Scholarship. (Burton served previously as addiction stabilization center manager at Maryhaven, Central Ohio’s largest behavioral health provider specializing in addiction recovery.

Martin and Burton established their collaboration when students from the Nursing Program began clinical learning in Maryhaven. Martin says, “It was clear the center was making a positive impact in the treatment of opioid overdose and addiction in Central Ohio, and the article describes the story of Maryhaven.”
