First4Weeks: Week 4 Tips to Support and Collaborate
Update | Tuesday, September 22, 2020
Proven, research-based strategies make a positive difference for students. The First4Weeks initiative is designed to leverage and expand on the great student success work we already have underway by focusing on four categories:
Week 1: Build Relationships and Connect
Week 2: Engage and Encourage
Week 3: Communicate, Celebrate, and Inspire
Week 4: Support and Collaborate
During the first four weeks of this semester, you’ll find helpful tips and links here for each category. These tips for the final and fourth week can help Support and Collaborate as the First4Weeks series concludes.
Ideas for faculty
Some faculty members have been able to integrate information about campus resources
into class assignments, such as having students use tutoring services, NetTutor, and
online Library services. That can help them form a deeper academic connection to the
College.
Ideas for staff
We need to remember that students have many things going on outside of classes, so
there may be barriers to their success that we aren’t aware of. Pay close attention
to “red flag” statements so you can help them identify and solve problems.
Visit cscc.edu/first4weeks for additional tips and strategies. Help students connect with one another, faculty, and the College at cscc.edu/connection.
With AutumnSemester 2020 classes being held remotely, we want to be sure that students have resources to connect, communicate, collaborate – and succeed in this new learning environment. In addition to First4Weeks tips, more information about remote/online learning can be found at cscc.edu/LearnOn.
