How to Register
Before registering for a Basic ESL class, all students must take the Basic English Placement Test.
- Registration for placement testing and classes for Autumn A 2024 opens on Monday, June 24th.
- Placement Testing begins Saturday, July 20th.
- Autumn A classes begin Monday, August 5th .

Step 1: Choose a Class
We offer Basic ESL levels 1-8 in-person. A placement test is required to determine your class level. Current schedule is below and will be updated each term.
We offer elective classes to help you improve your English. You can choose an elective class based on what skills you would like to improve.
Step 2: Schedule placement test or register for online class
Register for class or placement test online through CougarWeb for Continuing Education. Once you receive your placement test results, you can register for classes.

Step 3: Get your Cougar ID Card
Cougar ID card services are available for select walk-in hours. Please check the Student ID Card section of Student Central's website for current hours.
Student ID cards cost $4.00. Basic ESL students can pay for their Student ID when they register for
class. The Non-Credit Registration office will provide a receipt. Take the receipt
to Student Central.

Step 4: Purchase Textbooks
Basic ESL textbooks are necessary for class. You can buy them in-person at our bookstore. The bookstore is located at 283 Cleveland Avenue, next to the Language Institute. You can also buy them online through the Columbus State Community College Bookstore. The class schedule shows what textbook(s) you need to buy.
Step 5: Set Up and Check Your Email
If you have not set up your CSCC e-mail yet, follow our Instructions for Username and Password Setup to access your account.
