Spring cleaning for your digital data

Student News | Monday, March 24, 2025

As spring arrives, it’s the perfect time to refresh not just your home but also your digital space. A digital spring cleaning helps protect your data from security threats. Over time, outdated files, unused accounts, and weak security settings can put personal data at risk.

1. Review and update passwords: Change weak or reused passwords and enable multi-factor authentication where possible.

2. Delete unused accounts and apps: Old accounts can be security risks; remove what you no longer use.

3. Update software and devices: Ensure your system, apps, and antivirus software are up to date to protect against threats.

4. Check privacy settings: Review social media and online accounts to limit data exposure.

By taking these steps, you can reduce security risks and enjoy a more organized, safer digital experience. Visit Cyber Safety for more information. If you receive a suspicious email, report it to abuse@cscc.edu or call the IT Support Center at 614-287-5050.
