Housing counseling available for students

The Student Advocacy Center has a new outside service to assist students with housing counseling, referral, and coordination services that promote self-sufficiency and boost academic progress for Columbus State students.
Jerry Valentine is a social entrepreneur from Cincinnati. He is also the founder and CEO of Renter Mentor, a social enterprise company helping connect people to affordable housing. The company services assist landlords and tenants through housing processes and provide them access to needed supportive services. Valentine is a certified U.S. Housing Consultant with the National Association of Home Builders. He brings extensive and affordable housing knowledge and experience from his former employment with the Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority (CMHA).
As an active community member and volunteer in Columbus, Valentine is a recent Project REAP/Urban Land Institute graduate, a recent OPEN Access Fellow for the Ohio Capital Corporation for Housing, and a board member for Physician Care Connections. He is dedicated to continuing to make a community impact through servant leadership and advocacy for affordable housing and diversity, equity, and inclusion in the community development industry.
