Columbus State’s Diversity in Technology night set for Feb. 10

Columbus State Community College continues to highlight diversity in career paths in manufacturing and information technology (IT) through a series of outreach events. An upcoming virtual session will be moderated by a talented soon-to-be graduate and include professionals from Central Ohio companies.

Technology careers include positions such as database administrator, software developer, web developer, computer systems analyst, mobile app developer, information security analyst, to name a few. There’s a growing demand across the board. The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that software developers will experience 22% job growth between 2019 and 2029. 

This week’s Diversity in Technology Night will be moderated by Garrett Braxton, who is a graduating student of color in Columbus State’s IT Flexible Apprenticeship program. Prior to enrolling at the College, he served in the US Army. 

The event will include eight successful men and women of color in the field of IT at companies including Nationwide, Accenture, State Auto, and Per Scholas. Braxton will moderate the panel through a series of questions that seek to inspire and equip the next generation of IT professionals.
