New College Year. New Columbus State Cougar!
Student News | Tuesday, August 27, 2019
The sports teams at Columbus State are a big source of #CougarPride. To create a consistent and unified look for the teams, the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics wanted an official – and original – Columbus State cougar for use on uniforms, spirit wear, gymnasium graphics, and more.
In partnership with the College’s Marketing and Communications team, the first official athletic brand was developed. Senior Graphic Designer Paul Rehg created the original art, and an official Columbus State cougar head and paw were launched over the summer.
"Cougar Athletics is thrilled to share the new branding with our students, employees, alumni, and community," said athletic director Scott Nichols. "Having a unified logo is essential as we continue to elevate our program profile. We strongly encourage everyone across the College to use the Cougar logo as we move forward."
Over the next several months, the new cougar will replace existing versions in the athletics department, on the athletics website, as well as on team uniforms, apparel, promotional materials, and other items. All College departments and student groups are encouraged to replace images of cougars and paws with the new, sanctioned versions as materials are updated and reprinted.
Additionally, the Bookstore will soon begin selling apparel and merchandise featuring the Columbus State cougar and paw. So we will all have the opportunity to sport our newly designed #CougarPride.
