Veterans Week events Nov. 6 - 9

The Military and Veteran Services Department at Columbus State Community College would like to formally invite you to participate in our 7th Annual Veterans Week Events hosted at our Columbus Campus. At this time, Columbus State Community College has a known veteran student population of 960 students. This includes veterans and those who may be dependents or survivors of veterans. We also have may staff and faculty at the College who are veterans.

Tuesday, November 6 – Veterans Resource Fair from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  This day will feature a number of organizations, city, county, state, and federal agencies and veteran service organizations who support veterans and their dependents, including the VA Mobile Healthcare Outreach and other VA support offices. This event will take place in Delaware Hall. Please register here.

Wednesday, November 7 – Veterans Day Commemoration Ceremony to be held in the courtyard at 12:05 p.m. near Franklin Hall (277 Jefferson Ave., Columbus). Our Guest Speaker this year is Mr. Warren Motts. He is the founder of the Motts Military Museum in Groveport and a veteran himself. Motts attained the rank of Staff Sergeant (E-6) before his retirement in 1968. He enlisted in the Ohio Army National Guard in 1959. Following basic training, he completed the U.S. Army Signal School of Photography in New Jersey. Later, he led the Photography Department for the 37th Infantry Division, State of Ohio.

In 1988, Motts founded the military museum. It houses an extensive collection of artifacts from all wars that America has been involved in. 

The Commemoration Ceremony is free to students, staff, faculty and the public.

Friday, November 9 – Columbus Veterans Day Parade: Formation of the parade starts at 10:00 a.m. and the step off for the celebration will be at 12:00 noon at Nationwide Boulevard and High Street.
