Admissions
There are no separate applications to enter the EMS program. Students should apply to the College and select EMS as Program of Study. EMS classes fill up quickly once registration opens. Many students take general education requirements while waiting for an opportunity to schedule EMS certification classes.
The First Course: The first EMS course for students with no EMS experience is EMS 1860 - the EMT certification course. The most important step that must be completed in order to register for EMS 1860 is completion and submission of the required Health Record. See the Emergency Medical Technician section below for details about the course and the steps to take to register and be ready for class. The background check and drug screen that are required can be completed once a student is registered for the course, but before the first day of class.
Ohio certified EMTs that are interested in the paramedic program should review the information below in the Paramedic section. EMT certification and completion of the course EMS 1002-Paramedic Preparation are required prior to applying for the paramedic program and completing the Entrance Exam. See “Paramedic Program Admission Process” below.
Questions? Students who still have questions after reviewing the information below can email us at ems@cscc.edu for more information.
