Faculty Orientations
New Adjunct? Take the next three steps:
1. Complete new hire forms
All new hire forms must be turned in to Human Resources before you can receive your employee ("Cougar") ID, computer system password ("Novell Lo- in"). Questions? Call Amy Burns (287-5381) if you are in Career and Technical programs and Julie VanWynsberge (287-5607) if you are in Arts and Sciences.
2. Attend Adjunct Orientation
New adjuncts will be introduced to campus resources and processes that will help you and your students be successful at Columbus State. These include:
- teaching & learning at CSCC
- academic reporting
- evaluation of teaching
- student information & privacy
- student support services
- faculty support services
Check the upcoming dates below and register online or call 287-2175. Choose one of the dates. You are paid the current adjunct hourly meeting rate for attending.
3. Introduction to Educational Technology
In addition to the genreral orientation you may also take a course introducing you to Groupwise, our college email system, and Blackboard, the college's online course management system. You must use Groupwise to stay abreast of most college communication. All online courses are in Blackboard and many departments require the use of Blackboard to support traditional classroom instruction. Register for Introduction to Educational Technology. You will be paid the current adjunct hourly meeting rate for attending one of these classes (see options below).

Full-Time Faculty Orientation
All new full-time faculty, regardless of hire date, are required to participate in the annual New Faculty Orientation held prior to the beginning of Autumn quarter. The two-day orientation is a comprehensive and collegial discussion of College processes and teaching and learning responsibilities and challenges. Below is an outline of the program.

New Faculty Seminars
During the first year of employment, new faculty also attend two half day seminars, one in winter and one in spring quarter. Topics covered in these seminars include:
- Promotion and Tenure
- Classroom Assessment Techniques
- Classroom Scenarios & Code of Conduct
- Professional Development Support
- Instructional Technology Training
- Trends and implications of learning technology on pedagogy
The Winter Seminar is typciall held in February, the Summer seminar in May.
