![]() Welcome Dental Laboratory Technicians make a wide variety of dental prostheses, including dentures and crowns. At Columbus State's Dental Laboratory Program, you'll learn to make prostheses using wax, plastic, precious metals, stainless steel, porcelain and other materials. It is perfect for the nontraditional student going back to school for a new career. Although they rarely see patients, Dental Laboratory Technicians have a major impact on how they eat, talk and smile. Their work runs the gamut from restoration to "extreme makeovers." Columbus State offers two programs in Dental Laboratory Technology: A two-year associate's degree and a one-year certificate program. 1-year Certificate Program
Our 1-year certificate program will allow the student to gain some experience in each of these areas and then they will choose an area in which to specialize. The student will then receive two quarters of instruction in their specialty area. This process should produce a student that has some understanding of all of the areas of dental laboratory, along with ensuring that the student is competent in a specialty area. After finishing the program, students can work anywhere in the United States or abroad. Students also have the potential to open their own laboratory. The one-year certificate program can be converted to an Associate Degree with the addition of business courses. Since our technology is very visual, many international students whose
English skills are limited find success in our technology. We offer
individualized attention in all portions of the curriculum.
