Survey Tool Surveys can be used to gather data. Zoomerang and SurveyMonkey can make surveying large groups easy. Surveying can also be done manually as in a paper survey and result tabulated separately. Example of survey is the Employee Celebration Survey

Control chart See how the system changes over time.
Histogram Show central location of data, the central location, spread and shape. Example.
Understanding variability in elements of process

Fishbone Diagram (.pdf) Diagram that helps to identify and classify causes into classifications: Methods, Machinery, Manpower, and Materials

Check Sheet Important in replicating a process. Example.
Relations Diagram A pictorial diagram of the key elements involved in a process. Relations diagram template.
Pareto Chart A graphical tool for ranking causes from most significant to least significant. Used to help focus improvement on the "vital few". Example.
Nominal group technique A technique similar to brainstorming an used by teams to generate ideas on a particular subject. Step-by-step how to guide.
Operational Definition A clear concise and detailed definition of a measure. A definition is required in order to understand comparative data.
Systems Thinking Methodology Valuable when evaluating and making changes to systems in an organization. PowerPoint explanation. Example.
Gannt Chart Used to track completed/not completed tasks over time. Example.
