DEIS staff earn teaching certificates

Vayntraub and Harley
Elina Vayntraub and Robert Harley
.

Two members of the Distance Education and Instructional Support staff completed the Sloan Consortium Online Teaching Certificate Program, with a concentration in Blended Learning.

Robert Harley
completed the program in March and his mentor commented on his final project: "Impressive variety of intro resources ... You didn't just hit a grand slam, you knocked the ball out of the ballpark!"

Elina Vayntraub finished her program in May 2013 and her mentor stated, "I am impressed with your use of technology, the appropriateness of its use, and the amount of visuals.  I hope that you are able to work with a lot of instructors and help them improve their courses the way you have used your skills to improve this one."

The program prepares educators to teach and improve online courses using the Sloan-C pillars of quality in online education: learning effectiveness, scale, faculty and student satisfaction, and access.
