Before and after borer

The beautiful ash trees that used to line the walkway east of Franklin Hall, seen in this photo from the 90s,
(top) are no more, due to Emerald Ash Borer damage. The dying trees were removed from several areas of campus last week. Some pines, crab apples and serviceberry trees remain to provide meager shade.
Singing upstairs

Chorus Columbus State members took time out last Tuesday to perform a mini-concert on the steps inside the Bookstore during lunch hour. Gordon Franklin directs the Chorus and participants include students, employees and members of the community.
Find FoE online
If you’ve been following the Foundations of Excellence (FoE) progress, or want to know more about the initiative and how it impacts our students, you can now find the information you need online. Log on to http://intranet.cscc.edu/foundations to read about the FoE program, activities, teams, resources, upcoming events, and more. (Intranet is not available off campus.)
Be sure to check the “Resources” page for the recently released list of prioritized recommendations resulting from the work of the First Year Dimension Committees. These recommendations are the results of studying student and faculty/staff survey responses, college data, and articles on best practices in student retention and success. Items were prioritized according to their potential to have greatest impact on student retention and success!
Last call for recipes!
The Columbus State Bookstore is still in need of original recipes for the Columbus State cookbook that will go on sale at the Bookstore this fall. All proceeds from the cookbook will go to the Columbus State Foundation to help provide student scholarships.
What’s more, when you email your recipe to csbookstore@cscc.edu, you will be entered to win a $25 Bookstore gift certificate.
If you missed the first call for recipes, it’s not too late! Please submit your favorite recipe by Monday, August 22.
