The Search Committee for the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs position would like to invite all Columbus State employees to meet the second candidate, Anita S. Kaplan, Ed.D.

Dr. Kaplan has been in higher education as a leader and visionary with significant, comprehensive experience as an academician, entrepreneur, diversity advocate and program innovator and currently is a Consultant for the Development Institute in Boston, Massachusetts.

Author to sign books following Woman Student Leader Awards presentation

Iyanla Vanzant

Iyanla Vanzant will be the featured speaker at the annual Women Student Leader Awards ceremony, held in honor of Women’s History Month. The presentation begins at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 2 in the Conference Center Ballroom and is free and open to the public. Vanzant will sign her latest book, “Peace from Broken Pieces,” immediately following the event in the Center for Workforce Development.

book coverVanzant is the founder of Inner Visions Institute for Spiritual Development, where she teaches classes and workshops on spiritual law and principles. She is the author of 15 books, and she lectures across the country.

At the event, the Columbus State Bookstore will offer “Peace from Broken Pieces” and your choice of one other of Vanzant’s books for the bundle price of just $30.

 

 

 

 

 

Blackboard 9.1 training available

If you are one of the more than 500 faculty members who have completed Blackboard 9.1 Transition training, then you are well on your way. Make sure you request to move your shells and copy materials into your Spring Quarter 2011 courses as soon as possible. The more courses we move now, the longer you have to update them. Submit your requests to http://teaching.cscc.edu/Support/request.asp.

Blackboard 9.1 is very different from the previous version. Training is strongly recommended - and easy!

Don't get left behind or feel lost in front of your students! Be ready to go on March 28 with Blackboard 9.1.

 

Deadline for Employee/Dependent Fee Waivers March 15

The deadline to submit Employee/Dependent Fee Waivers for Spring Quarter is Tuesday, March 15.  

A Request for Fee Waiver form must be turned into Human Resources by 4:30 p.m. on that date to guarantee that fee waivers will be processed before late fees are assessed.

You may also first pay your fees and be reimbursed within 30 days from the start of the quarter by completing the Request for Fee Waiver form and submitting an official payment receipt to Human Resources by April 28. If you have any questions, please contact Susan Thompson at ext. 2406.

 

La Mar-Nikoli elected to board

Tracy La Mar-Nikoli, program coordinator in CEWD, was recently elected to the 2011 Board of Directors for the Central Ohio U.S. Green Building Council. She has been involved with the local Chapter for more than a year and established a formal partnership with the Council and Columbus State that allows members of the chapter to receive discounts to "green" non-credit courses and other partnership benefits.

Lamar-Nikoli also recently earned her Certified Program Planner designation after attending a Learning Resource Network conference in Chicago.

 

Thurber House seeks writing camp counselors

logoThurber House is preparing for the 16th season of their Summer Writing Camp for children in 2nd through 8th grades. Coordinators are looking for talented camp counselors to work with students and help develop their writing.
