Come out of your office on Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and take a break with the students at Spring Fling! There will be food, games, giveaways and music. It’s supposed to be warm with only a slight chance of showers!

Faculty Symposium has something for everyone Columbus State faculty members will share their interests and latest research in a day-long series of presentations hosted by the Arts & Sciences Lecture Series. The event is free and open to the public. Students are invited, and faculty should bring their classes to participate in this lively celebration of the academic life of our campus, where you topics range from saving the environment with nano particles to a discussion of “graphic” novels! Columbus State has a beautiful child development facility right on campus. If you have little ones and want to keep them close while you work or attend school, come in for a tour during our Open House hours 10:00-11:30 a.m. or 6:00-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 19.

This presentation is designed to explore Skilled Trades, their degree pathways, educational models, and college credit methods. We will also talk about the challenges faced by the occasional collision of apprenticeships with college policies, practices, and traditional instructional methods.
As Ohio continues to encourage community colleges to discover, design, and implement these degree pathways, we are discovering an additional marketplace and pool of students otherwise overlooked and untapped. The Skilled Trades pathways also bring with them an opportunity to serve our community in whole by actively producing a better educated and professional workforce.
