Board of Trustees votes to honor president with naming of Delaware Campus academic center

Dr. Moeller accepts a framed original painting of “Moeller Hall” at the Columbus State Delaware Campus, as it might appear in September 2010 when it opens. The Board of Trustees last Thursday voted to name the academic center nearing completion at the Delaware Campus “Moeller Hall” honoring President M.Valeriana Moeller. The building will open during the summer of 2010, and the first classes will be held Autumn Quarter 2010.

Volleyball team places 7th at NJCAA Tournament The Lady Cougar Volleyball Team ended up 7th at the national tournament held this past weekend in Wisconsin Dells, Wis. After a first-round victory against McHenry Community College, Mich., the Cougars were defeated by Parkland College, Ill., in the quarter final round. The Cougars then lost to Des Moines Community College, Iowa, but rallied to win their final match on Saturday against Kalamazoo Community College, Mich., finishing 7th out of 16 teams in the tournament.
Early heads-up on fee waiversThe deadline for Employee and Dependent Fee Waivers for Winter Quarter is rapidly approaching. A Request for Fee Waiver form must be turned into Human Resources by 4:30 p.m. December 14 to guarantee that fee waivers will be processed before late fees are assessed.
You may also first pay your fees and be reimbursed within 30 days from the start of the quarter by completing the Request for Fee Waiver form and submitting an official payment receipt to Human Resources by February 3, 2010. If you have any questions, please contact Susan Thompson at ext. 2406.
Lloyd serves on conference panelThomas Lloyd, Columbus State Concert Band director, attended the William Grant Still Music Conference in Natchez, Miss. last week. He served on a panel of conductors discussing the arts and education. There was also a performance of the new edition of Still's Folk Suites, for which Lloyd served as editor. The conference was hosted by the composer's daughter, Judith Anne Still, who was a guest of Columbus State last June for a concert of her father's music.

The search firm of Greenwood/Asher and Associates from Miramar Beach, FL
will be holding campus forums on Tuesday, December 1.
Greenwood/Asher would like to gather valuable insight and advice from the
campus community. Two questions which they would like input on are:
1. What should the next president of Columbus State expect to accomplish in the first three to five years?
2. What characteristics or qualities should the next president possess?
Please bring your questions, concerns and enthusiasm to the forums. Greenwood/Asher needs your assistance in the search process for identifying and subsequently making recommendations for a successor to the president of Columbus State. Your participation will make a difference!
