| Reminder: Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner to speak, women student leaders to be recognized today
New ATM installed in Discovery Exchange Current Mid-State Educators Credit Union members can use the new ATM with no fees. Others will be charged only $1 versus the customary $2 fee charged by most financial institutions to non-customers. Mid-State will also offer several options for new accounts to our students as well as staff. The current ATM in Delaware Hall is scheduled for replacement during spring quarter.
Concert Band to perform March 7  Columbus State Concert Band director Thomas Lloyd, center, goes over the score with guest artists Elise DesChamps and Brian Banion. The Columbus State Concert Band will present its winter quarter concert on Wednesday, March 7, at 8:00 p.m. in Nestor Hall Auditorium. The concert is free and open to the public. Guest artists are mezzo-soprano Elise DesChamps and bass-baritone Brian Banion, who will sing duets from Mozart's "Don Giovanni" and Victor Herbert's "The Red Mill." DesChamps has performed with Opera Columbus and the Cincinnati Opera. Banion, who has sung throughout the United States and Europe, recently made his debut with the Spoleto Festival USA singing Leporello in "Don Giovanni." The guest singers are husband and wife and rarely have the chance to perform together as they build their separate careers. The Concert Band will also perform the Ohio premiere of "Pandemonium" by Roger Cichy which was co-commissioned by Columbus State and 15 other universities and one professional band. Also on the program are marches by Henry Fillmore and Red Skelton. The Columbus State Woodwind Ensemble will play works by Franz Joseph Haydn and Black American composer William Grant Still.For more information on the concert, contact Thomas Lloyd ext. 3993 or tlloyd@cscc.edu.

Poet to teach workshop March 31 Inez is the author of eight poetry collections including the award-winning The Woman Who Loved Worms (Doubleday & Co., 1972, reissued by Carnegie Mellon University Press, 1992). She has also published Family Life, 1988, and Getting Under Way: New & Selected Poetry, 1993, both from Story Line Press. Her most recent collection, Clemency, came out in 1998 (Carnegie Mellon University Press) and her memoir, The Secret of M. Dulong, was published by the University of Wisconsin Press in 2004. As the illegitimate daughter of a priest and a scholar, within 10 days of her birth Inez was placed in a Catholic orphanage, where she suffered deprivation. She learned harsher lessons when sent to live with alcoholic and abusive foster parents in the United States at the age of eight. In her remarkable poetry, Inez has explored this story with wit, haunting feeling, and memorable storytelling. In her poetry Inez turned to art, nature, cultures far different from her own, and the love of her husband--all of which, in addition to the story of her parents, make up the themes of her poetry.

Colette Inez, Columbia University writing scholar and poet, will present "Find the Sound of Music in Your Poetry" as part of the Visiting Author's Workshop Program at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 31, on the lower level of Nestor Hall. At 4 p.m., she will be at the Discovery Exchange for a book signing.
