CSCC Distance Learning Students

Welcome to the Columbus State Community College Distance Learning program.  If you reside outside of Central Ohio and need to complete your Distance Learning, there are certain procedures to be followed.

In order to have your exams proctored outside Central Ohio for the current quarter  you must contact your instructor and obtain permission once the quarter begins (preferably no later than the first two weeks of the quarter) so that the process can begin.

ACCEPTABLE SITES:
  • Public Libraries

  • Any accredited College/University

  • Company or Organization that has a testing operation

All of the above must have staff that have duties and/or responsibilities as a part of their position.

EXCLUDED from approval as proctors:

  • Family/Relatives

  • Employers/Supervisors/Co-workers

  • Neighbors/Friends

  • Clergy

  • Staff/Faculty that DO NOT proctor as a part of daily job responsibility and/or job description

FACULTY APPROVAL GRANTED:

After you receive approval from your instructor, you must submit the following information:

  • A copy of communication from the professor stating that his/her approval has been granted  (e.g., email, letter, phone call)

  • The contact/proctor name, telephone number, and address of the college or library where you wish to take your exam

  • The proctor’s email address (if available) and your email address.   (The Testing Center will attempt to notify both parties when an exam has been sent to the proctoring site)

Upon receipt of this information, verification of your site, and the exam being submitted by the instructor, your exams will then be sent standard mail via the United States Postal Service.   It is your responsibility to contact the site to verify the receipt of your exams and to schedule a testing time that will meet your instructor’s deadline.

Once you have started that process and/or begun taking tests, if any changes occur, information must be received at least five days before a scheduled exam will be sent out on your behalf.   If this information is not received five days prior to the first day that the exam is to be available, you must contact your instructor for a deadline extension.

We look forward to being a part of your successful quarter at Columbus State Community College.  If you have any questions, feel free to contact the Testing Center at 614-287-2478 and ask to speak with Mrs. Sandra Veach or email her at dloctest@cscc.edu
