Date of Incident: Between April 13 and 14, 2013

Time:
Between 4:00 p.m. on April 13 and 1:00 a.m. on April 14

Description:
Auto Theft

Location:
Student Lot 12-S

Details:
Reporting person states he parked his car on the 12-S parking lot at 4:00 p.m. on April 13.  When he returned at 1:00 a.m. on April 14, the car was gone.  The car is described as a white 1995 Buick Century with Ohio license number ER62HG.

Suspect(s):
There are no suspects at this time

Open or Closed Case:
The case remains open.

Crime Tip!  Remember to remove your keys from your ignition and take them with you.  Store your valuables in the trunk of the car, out of sight.

Crime Prevention Notice

Update: March 7: The Iowa State Patrol has arrested Michael Tarpeh. He's facing charges of violent crimes in several states. Last week, the U.S. Marshals Service issued an alert in central Ohio for Tarpeh. At the request of the Marshals Service, Columbus State and Ohio State both issued alerts asking staff and students to be on the lookout. While investigators believe Tarpeh may have been in the area at the time, he did not commit any crimes on either campus.

Michael TarpehLocation: Columbus, Ohio metropolitan area

Details: The Columbus State Community College Department of Public Safety and The Ohio State University Police Division have been made aware of a dangerous wanted person who may be in the Columbus area.

An individual identified as Michael Moses Tarpeh is currently wanted by the Morgantown, W.Va., Police Department for aggravated assault and attempted sexual assault. He is also wanted by the Massachusetts State Police for an armed carjacking, robbery, and assault and battery of a motorist in Lee, Mass. Arrest warrants are pending with the University of Connecticut Police Department.

Suspect: Michael Moses Tarpeh also known as Michael Moses Boadi and refers to himself as 'Bigggggg Mike."

Tarpeh is a 23-year-old African American, and described as 'heavy set," 6 feet, 280 pounds. Tarpeh is NOT an OSU or CSCC student.

Anyone with information concerning this subject should contact the Columbus State Police at 614-287-2525, Ohio State University Police at 614-292-2121 or Columbus Police at 645-4545. Information can also be reported anonymously to the Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 461-TIPS.

Date of incident: June 20, 2012

Time: Between 3:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Description: Auto Theft

Location: Student Lot 11-S (corner of Cleveland and Mt. Vernon Ave)

Details: Reporting person parked his car on the 11-S parking lot at about 3:00 p.m. When he returned at about 6:30 p.m. the car was gone. The car was described as a white 1997 Pontiac Grand Am with Minnesota license number UYW-463. The keys were left in the vehicle.

Suspect(s): No suspects at this time.

Open or Closed Case: The case remains open.

UPDATE: December 27, 2012
Rotich remains in the custody of the Franklin County Sheriff's Office.

UPDATE: July 2, 2012
Rotich remains in the Franklin County Jail and was indicted by the Franklin County Grand Jury on Wednesday (June 27, 2012) on felonious assault and attempted murder.

UPDATE: June 19, 2012
Isaac Rotich appeared before a Franklin County Municipal Court Judge this morning and he was returned to the Franklin County Jail under a $500,000 bond.

Update 6:10 p.m.: Suspect was apprehended by Columbus State police and Columbus police this evening.

Update 12:47 p.m.: Police have identified a suspect in the case: Isaac Rotich. Rotich is described as 45 years old, 5'8", black, about 160 lbs. A warrant has been issued for Rotich's arrest.

Rotich is not a student and is not affiliated with Columbus State.

Update 10:43 a.m.: A person of interest has been identified in the stabbing of a Columbus State part-time instructor this morning. The stabbing appears to be unrelated to any class, academic or business issue of the college. College and Columbus police are in search of the person of interest.

The college is open and classes continue as scheduled.  We will continue to update you as we receive further information.
