From Cairo to Kigali, London and Mumbai to . . . Columbus
Columbus State will host Pangea Day, an international film event promoting
global understanding, on May 10. The free event will run from 2–6 p.m.
in the Columbus State Conference Center.
In a world where people are often divided by borders, difference and conflict, it’s easy to lose sight of what we all have in common. Pangea Day seeks to overcome that – to help people see themselves in others – through the power of film.
The four-hour presentation will be broadcast live throughout the world via the Internet, television, digital cinemas and mobile phones. Columbus State is the only location in Ohio hosting Pangea Day.
The event involves 24 short films showing cultures from around the world. Speakers will include Queen Noor of Jordan, CNN's Christiane Amanpour, musician/activist Bob Geldof, and Iranian rock phenom Hypernova. Attendees won’t just be watching TV – they’ll also send photos, video and text messages to
PangeaDay.org to become part of the event.
The winning films to be broadcast on Pangea Day (May 10,
2008) have been selected. The lineup can be viewed at:
