Tubular Assault-Bus, Train and Plane (April 2009)

Now open to patrol officers with 3 years of experience (and required equipment, particularly an AR15/M4 type rifle)!!This class provides the opportunity for street and tactical operations personnel (law enforcement and military) to develop their skills using our live platform of bus, train and large and small aircraft. Even if your agency doesn't have an airport or track line in its jurisdiction, your skill set training foundations will be built upon using advanced firearms training, close quarter battle defensive tactics, and tubular assault tactics, and some of the newest equipment use that works in terms of continuity on all platforms utilized, and even in tight spaces like narrow school hallways. Those patrol officer seeking SWAT positions at their agency will find this course and certification an excellent skill builder, providing training situations not normally found in a basic SWAT school. Students will receive information on the operational systems of school and passenger buses, AMTRAK passenger train systems (the basics of which can also be applied to light rail, subway or commuter systems), light/regional aircraft such as Lear/Citation jets and piston engine craft (with a view for a drug courier intervention) and our Boeing 727 Passenger Jet. The aircraft are all maintained in operational condition by CSCC Aviation Maintenance Program. This course can be paid for by tuition reimbursement progams from your agency with no money required up front.

TIPS Alcohol Server Training (September 15, 2008)

The Challenges: Restaurants and bars are great places for people to socialize and have a good time.

Unfortunately, that good time sometimes gets out of hand. Servers must be able to deal with these

problem behaviors and the challenges associated with underage drinking and drunk driving.

The Solution: TIPS for On Premise at Columbus State Community College empowers your employees to

take a proactive approach toward preventing alcohol misuse and maintaining control of the environment.

By training your staff to recognize the signs of intoxication, you can reduce the chance that an alcoholrelated

incident will occur. TIPS-trained servers show your customers that you care about them and want

to make their visits to your establishment as pleasant as possible.

Additional Benefits: TIPS training can also improve business and community relations. TIPS

certification demonstrates a commitment to prevent alcohol-related problems and a desire to be part of

the solution in society's fight against drunkenness. Liquor boards and local authorities tend to look

favorably on establishments that incorporate TIPS, which can lead to more lenient penalties in the event

of an alcohol violation. TIPS for On Premise can also help an establishment protect itself from possible

litigation and often results in reduced liability insurance premiums.
