Delaware Campus

Student Engagement and Leadership (SEaL) coordinates programs and leadership opportunities for students to grow and become involved during their time at CSCC. Currently SEaL offers wellness, social, community service, leadership and educational programs to students at the Delaware campus. From Weeks of Welcome to Civic Engagement to Wellness programming to to Zumba, there is an activity for every student to get involved. SEaL also advises student clubs and/or organizations on campus; to start a new club, please contact Heather Borland, Assistant Director (hborland@cscc.edu) or Michelle Weiser, Delaware Assistant (mweiser@cscc.edu). SEaL encourages students to get involved and SEaL their success!

TOP TEN WAYS TO GET INVOLVED AT COLUMBUS STATE: AUTUMN SEMESTER 2014

1. GET INVOLVED: ATTEND THE WEEK OF WELCOME FAIR!

Attending activities and getting involved on campus is not only beneficial to you as a student, but can provide opportunities that last long after graduation! Learning about all the different offerings will help you build skills that demonstrate your value to prospective employers, transfer universities and graduate schools.

2. LEARN FINANCIAL LITERACY: ACQUIRE BUDGETING TIPS

Stressed out about keeping a budget in college? Attend this session to learn tips on financial wellness. Participants will also have the opportunity to paint piggy banks and make valuable connections!

3. SIGN UP FOR ORGSYNC: DEVELOP YOUR CO-CURRICULAR TRANSCRIPT

OrgSync is a web-based platform that allows students to join, organize, manage and communicate with student organizations and their members. SEaL will be using this system to enhance the Clubs and Organizations experience, as well as working with other departments across Columbus State to bring resources directly to students. 4. SHOW YOUR SCHOOL SPIRIT: SUPPORT OUR WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL TEAM!

5. JOIN OR START A CLUB: PRACTICE LEADERSHIP SKILLS

Columbus State's clubs and organizations provide students with a valuable opportunity to get involved in campus life by participating in various organizations geared to your specific interest. Student Engagement and Leadership offers a range of organizations from career, academic and recreation, to special interest. Students are required to attend this workshop if they are interested in starting or reactivating a club.


6. ATTEND THE CLUB KICK OFF FOR OFFICERS AND ADVISORS: GET INVOLVED AS A CLUB LEADER!

Join Student Engagement and Leadership for our kickoff of Clubs and Organizations for the Autumn Semester with an introduction to the new OrgSync system, officer training, and a keynote from speaker Tawan Perry, creator of the Connect-5 College Completion Program. Please R.S.V.P. by September 10, 2014 for the Club Kickoff & Training, please email Michelle Weiser, Community Service and Clubs Assistant, at mweiser@cscc.edu with the name of your organization and the names of up to (5) club officers/advisors who plan on attending.

Student Engagement and Leadership (SEaL) builds community partnerships and connects students with volunteer opportunities. SEaL challenges Columbus State students to make an impact in our community. 8. COMMUNICATE WITH CONFIDENCE: COMMAND A ROOM!

November 6, 2014, Noon - 1:00 p.m.

Do you want to learn how to command a room? This workshop will provide physical tools for effective communication that even the most introverted can use. Come to this fun, game-based workshop ready to move and increase your communicative confidence! Please wear clothes/shoes you can comfortably move in. Skirts/dresses are discouraged as we will be working on the floor at times. Please feel free to bring a towel or yoga mat (some may be provided).

Student Engagement and Leadership (SEaL) formally invites you to attend the 5th annual Collegiate Leadership Conference of Ohio. This day and a half conference will be held at Columbus State Community College in the Center for Workforce Development. This year's conference will inspire students to "Unlock Your Potential." The conference will include workshops empowering students to uncover the keys to success, including advanced leadership skills and techniques to tap into their greatest potential. 10. STRESS LESS: LEARN HOW TO MANAGE YOUR STRESS

Student Engagement and Leadership (SEaL) offers educational programs and provides students with tools and resources to make healthy choices. SEaL teaches the 8 Dimensions of Wellness: social, emotional, spiritual, physical, intellectual, financial, environmental and mental. SEaL empowers CSCC students to achieve their full potential by living holistically. All areas of wellness interact continuously, influencing and being influenced by each other. Making a conscious change in one area of wellness will directly affect other areas as well. Maintaining good health and wellness takes a conscious effort and dedication!
