Cougar coach ranked No. 14 nationwide
Columbus State’s men’s basketball team has been making a mark in Division II junior
college play since Pat Carlisle arrived as head coach in 2007. Since then, the Cougars have made regular appearances
in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) top ten rankings.
Under Carlisle’s leadership, the team has made it to the national tournament twice,
with an appearance in the championship game once. Over the past five seasons Carlisle
has achieved a record of 129-32 – an 80% winning percentage.
Now Coach Carlisle’s hard work has paid off in a new ranking from RecruitDirt.com.
It puts Carlisle at No. 14 for all junior college coaches, divisions I, II and III.
The rankings were based on recent wins and losses, conference wins and losses, championships
won, along with recent and incoming recruiting classes. The only other head coach
in our state to be recognized was Dave Clark from Owens Community College in Toledo.

Theatre Columbus State to perform in October
The students in the Theater program will present their new comedy “1959 Pink Thunderbird
Convertible” which is actually two plays by James McLure. Columbus State’s Frank Barnhart directs. The first act, “Laundry
and Bourbon,” is the story of three small-town women who love to gossip. The second,
“Lone Star,” is about Roy, a man who loves three things: his country, his beautiful
wife and his 1959 pink Thunderbird Convertible — not necessarily in that order. The
play will be performed Wednesday, October 17 through Saturday, October 20 at 8:00 p.m. in the Nestor Hall Auditorium. There will also be a 3:00 p.m. matinee
on Thursday, October 18. Admission is free. This play is for mature audiences only!
