Email upgrade coming June 14
It’s happening – we’re throwing the switch on the email upgrade Friday, June 14.
Student email is moving from Microsoft’s Live@Edu to Office 365. The transition will
begin at 11 p.m. Friday, June 14. The new system will include cool features such as
file sharing through SharePoint Online, online MS Office programs for creating and
reading documents, instant messaging, and online meetings.
Email will be unavailable through the weekend. Microsoft tells us it may be down for
2-5 days. Make arrangements with your professor if you have to submit assignments. Faculty email and Blackboard will be unaffected.
(The upgrade was originally scheduled for May 10, but was postponed. Columbus State
moved to Live@Edu last year, and this was a separate project.)
What do you have to do? Not much. The email login screen will change, so you’ll need
to bookmark a new email page. Your old Live@Edu account will still remain, and you
can keep it or close it.
