EMS / Fire Science

Welcome to the EMS/Fire Science program at Columbus State Community College! We’re dedicated to training the next generation of firefighters, EMTs, and Paramedics.

Training with Ice

Following an ice rescue tragedy, 10-TV checked in with a Columbus State ice rescue class.

Options: Our EMS/Fire programs are designed to allow you to obtain an EMS/Fire certification prior to obtaining your associate degree. While a certification in EMS or Fire Science allows you to start working right away, a degree in EMS or Fire Science helps obtain promotions in the public safety field.

Access: As a college, our classes are eligible for federal student financial aid. Few other EMS/Fire academies can say that. And we’re already committed to maintaining the lowest cost per credit hour in Central Ohio.

Certification: You'll need a state certification to work as a firefighter and state & national certification to work as an EMT or Paramedic. See Programs for more details.

Results: Our graduates are working right now at fire departments and EMS services all around Ohio and across the country.
