Weeks of Welcome (WOW)

The Weeks of Welcome (WOW) are several weeks of exciting and informative events to help you begin your journey at Columbus State. WOW includes seminars, socials, previews and other activities to expose students to all of the opportunities that exist outside of the classroom to enhance each student’s collegiate experience. The events are FREE and sponsored by various campus departments and clubs.
Columbus and Delaware Campuses both have similar Weeks of Welcome, but have different schedules.
Week 1- Explore Campus!
Are you new to campus or just need help finding your class? The Welcome Team is located strategically around campus to support your adjustment to college life and answer your questions. Attend a campus tour and meet the Student Ambassadors! Enter to win daily giveaways!
Week 2- Explore Campus Resources and Involvement Opportunities!
Attend the Club Carnival and meet over 40 clubs and organizations! You are also invited to “Welcome Back,” a campus tradition where staff and faculty grill hotdogs while you can learn about campus departments and services. Honor Tour Heritage by attending a special reception for members of our diverse community. Finally, discover holistic wellness opportunities and learn about intramural sports!
Week 3- Explore Workshops!
A student workshop series provides you with additional opportunities to meet classmates and explore campus resources. You will develop skills for academic and personal success while learning about the benefits of being involved on campus.

Diversity and Study Abroad hosts a social reception that celebrates diversity on
campus. Everyone is welcome; light refreshments will be served. Learn about the diversity
that is represented on campus and meet International Students, The MAN Initiative,
Women’s and Men’s Employee Resource Groups, Spectrum, Disability Services, Veteran’s

The Wellness Fair will feature Columbus State and community partner resources offering
educational/prevention information for students. Students will become familiar with
the 8 dimensions of Wellness Program including, social, emotional, spiritual, physical,
intellectual, financial, environmental and mental wellness. Students will obtain tools
and program dates that will empower everyone to reach their potential by living holistically.

Many college students are forced to make tough decisions every day, such as choosing
between paying rent or buying food. In an effort to eliminate these choices and to
help Ohioans gain access to programs that help to provide stability, the Ohio Benefit
Bank is available on the Columbus campus. Attend this information session to learn
about this new program on campus and how to apply to receive benefits.

In Autumn 2010, the Pono Learning Community was created to provide a space for open
dialogue of diversity and social responsibility issues with and among students, staff,
faculty and administrators at Columbus State Community College. We’re now looking
for individuals who might be interested in joining Pono for 2012 – 2013 at the Delaware
Campus. Each cohort meets for eight sessions during a semester and is led in discussions
ranging from race and religion to disabilities and classism. For more information
