AQIP Action Projects

 Action Projects for 2015/2016

Action Projects provide assurance of the college's ongoing commitment to the Academic Quality Improvement Program, the college's accreditation pathway. Bruce Massis, Accreditation Liaison Officer, recently announced that President Harrison and the Cabinet have selected the three new projects for the coming year.

As a result of participating in a Strategy Forum in April, an Action Project titled, “Aligning and Communicating Strategic Priorities” is Columbus State’s first project for 2016. Following a process that was implemented in 2015 - where Action Projects were selected from a list of Student Success Innovation efforts - two additional Action Projects were selected. They are:

ALEKS Placement Boot Camp
Contacts: T.J. Duda, Beth Barnett, Julie Hallas, Lauren Jones, Phil McClean
Purpose: The purpose of this project is to improve student success by offering a new mathematics placement process to a group of incoming students.  It will provide a new (and we believe better) placement test, customized individual test preparation for each student, and several opportunities for retesting after additional preparation.  We believe that many students will be able to advance one or more levels, saving them both time and money and also increasing the chance of persistence toward a degree. (Satisfies AQIP Category 1 – “Helping Students Learn”)

Orientation and First Year Mobile App Development
Contacts: Desiree Polk-Bland and Molly Ward
Purpose: To develop a streamlined first year experience from point of Orientation through completion of the first semester, mobile applications can provide "on time" and easily accessible information in a format many traditional age students are accustomed to utilizing on a daily basis. (Satisfies AQIP Category 2 – “Meeting Student and Other Stakeholder Needs”)

•  Aligning and Communicating Strategic Priorities
Contacts: Jennifer Anderson, Kelly Weir, David Tom
This action project will assist in the college’s need to continue to improve planning, organization, documenting processes, communication, identifying targets and using data to inform decision-making.  Further, it will map an enhanced planning and budgeting process and develop a 12-month planning calendar that will improve and clarify processes that ensure that leaders set directions that are aligned with the mission, vision and values of the college. (Satisfies AQIP Category 4 – “Planning and Leading”)
