Ten new Columbus City Schools graduates a year will receive $1,000 scholarships beginning in autumn 2013. If the students maintain a 2.75 grade point average, they will receive an additional $1,500 for their second year at Columbus State.

Make some noise for Spring Semester enrollment!
Spring Semester is starting soon, and registration is under way. Make sure your students are ready.
The term starts Monday, January 14, a little later than students are used to. Faculty, staff and everyone who deals with students can help by reminding students to get registered on time!

For the upcoming semester, Columbus State is urging students to “Go For 15”—sign up for at least 15 credit hours. Most Plans of Study call for 15 hours each semester to graduate on time. That translates to five classes per term for most students, although the workload is spread out over the 15-week semester.
Even if students don’t feel comfortable taking five classes, taking one additional class can help them complete their degree in a reasonable amount of time. That helps their career timetable!

Woodwind Ensemble to play tomorrow
The Columbus State Woodwind Ensemble will perform a free concert on Tuesday, November 27, at 4:30 p.m. in the TL-123 music room. The 45-minute concert will be narrated by director Thomas Lloyd and will feature the works of Beethoven, Scott Joplin and William Grant Still. For more information contact tlloyd@cscc.edu
Celebrate Spiritual Wellness Nov. 27
The office of Student Engagement and Leadership (SEaL) will offer a day of Spiritual Wellness activities Tuesday, November 27, starting with meditation at 8 a.m. in Delaware Hall Room 158.
“Spiritual wellness” refers to integrating beliefs and values with actions. According to SEaL, the first step in developing values and spiritual wellness is to examine an individual’s own values: respect, honesty, human life, family, education, religion, health, wealth, community service and diversity. Spiritual wellness is also the capacity to love, have compassion for others, and express forgiveness, joy and fulfillment. SEaL invites Columbus State employees to join students in the following activities:

Chorus Columbus State to perform Dec. 2 at Museum
Get into the holiday spirit with Chorus Columbus State this weekend! The Chorus’ annual Winter Concert at the Columbus Museum of Art will take place on Sunday, December 2, at 3:00 p.m., in the Museum’s Derby Court. The choir, under the direction of Gordon Franklin, will perform a holiday program of traditional Christmas carols, as well as other holiday-themed music of varying styles. The program will also feature professional soloists and ensembles, as well as special instrumental accompaniment of piano, flute and harp. This free concert is open to the public and admission to the museum is free on Sundays. This annual concert is sure to get the whole family into a festive mood for the season!
Discovery District recognizes good neighbors
The Discovery Special Improvement District recently presented their Outstanding Neighborhood Commitment Award 2012 to representatives of area colleges including Columbus State. Info session offered Dec. 4 on pension reform

Picking up paychecks on December 31
Pay day is December 31, 2012, which will fall during the Holiday Cost Savings Week on campus. For your convenience, if you are not on campus to pick up your paycheck, you are encouraged to set up direct deposit of your paycheck. Please complete the Direct Deposit Authorization form available online at http://www.cscc.edu/about/human-resources/forms.shtml and submit to Payroll by December 4, 2012 to guarantee direct deposit on December 31, 2012. If your direct deposit is not set up in time, you can pick up your paycheck on December 31, 2012 at the Public Safety Office, located in Delaware Hall 047, from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. or 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Please be sure to bring a valid picture ID to pick up your paycheck.

W2 address corrections due
As the end of the year gets close, it's time to make sure that employees have the correct address information on file with Human Resources for W-2 purposes. If you have moved or need to make an address correction, you can access the address change form online at http://www.cscc.edu/about/human-resources/forms.shtml.
If you have moved, please note that you may need to update your W-4 federal tax form and your IT-4 Ohio state tax form. The above link will direct you to the Human Resources web page where you will find online printable forms.
