Additional Colleague interface stress tests scheduled

Old desktop UI to be retired soon
The college has now been processing work on the new Colleague 4.3 User Interface (UI) for over a month. Plans are being finalized to retire the old desktop user interface by the end of September.

During the week of September 12, IT will perform two additional stress tests on the application. In order to accomplish the stress tests, IT needs as many users as possible to log onto the new Colleague UI 4.3 and process their work.

The tests are scheduled for: Tuesday, September 13, from10 a.m. -12 p.m. and from 2- 4 p.m.

The link to the new Colleague 4.3 UI is: http://colleague.cscc.edu/. The more people we have on the UI, the better we can ensure that the application will support our business needs during the Fall Quarter rush. Training classes for Colleague UI 4.3 are being scheduled for October. Click on the link below to sign up for a training schedule: http://web.cscc.edu/is/employeetraining/OfferingsByCategory.asp?CID=359#62011
Please bookmark the Colleague 4.3 UI site (the site is on the intranet and not available off campus) as we will continue to post updates, as well as future in-person training sessions as needed.

If you experience problems with the new Colleague UI 4.3, please contact the Help Desk at ext. 5050.

Foundations of Excellence – it’s all about prioritizing

logoThe nine Foundations of Excellence committees are in the final phases of creating their reports for the Transfer Focus portion of the project. Each report will contain action items specific to the dimension that the individual committee is researching. For example, the Diversity dimension committee will recommend ways Columbus State can ensure that all students experience diverse ideas, worldviews, and cultures as a means of enhancing their learning; the Learning committee will recommend how the college can encourage transfer students to participate in engaging learning experiences both in and out of the classroom, etc.

So where would a committee start in researching their topic and structuring sound recommendations? The “Featured Resource” of the month on the FoE intranet site is just the place!

The Foundations of Excellence process is designed and managed by the John N. Gardner Institute for Excellence in Undergraduate Education, which provides a defined process and is involved with Columbus State every step of the way.  We began the FoE program with the surveys we administered last fall, one to students and a second to faculty and staff. The results of these surveys were sent to the Gardner Institute, which analyzed them and generated a report that defined top priorities to drive the College’s FoE process.

To view this month’s Featured Resource and learn more about FoE, log on to http://intranet.cscc.edu/foundations. You can also now find Foundations of Excellence on Yammer. Search under the “Group Directory” to find and join the Foundations of Excellence group.
