Fourteen teams to compete for annual Quality Awards
Fourteen teams from across campus have stepped up to compete for the 2011 Continuous Quality Improvement Team competition. Three prizes totaling $8,000 will be awarded at a luncheon on July 27. Seven of the teams competing include the:
Instructional Cost Model Team. In only three months, staffers from HR, Academic Affairs, and Business Services built a database tool from scratch to project and align expenses as we switch from quarters to semesters.
Dental Hygiene Alumni Network Team. What do you call it when over half of your graduates return for a first-ever alumni event? A whopping success! The Dental Hygiene and the Development Foundation’s alumni get- together is now an annual education conference and fundraiser.
Wrap-up Sheet Team. Imagine your department received 26,000 phone calls last month or 44,000 last September. Barb Simpson and her team at the Telephone Information Center love their new online tool that tracks calls and improves their customer service.
Developmental Education Block Program Team. Boosting new students' academic skills is what this team is all about. "Along with high success and retention rates, we see confidence levels flourish as students discover a sense of belonging in academia," wrote team member Tracy Koski.
Welcome Team. For the first two days of every quarter, these enthusiastic volunteers help make our college what it is—a friendly and nurturing place for students.
Adjunct Orientation Team. With a new set of web tools and specialized training, Adjunct Orientation not only improves the academic focus of adjunct staff but also raises their comfort level as ambassadors of the college.
Math 099 Summer Bridge Team. Students who placed into Dev 031, Math 102 and 103 were offered this custom go-at-your-own-speed pilot program. Focusing on student retention, this team's efforts also saved significant student time and money.
