Downtown Digital Arts Fest starts tomorrow!
Come celebrate our students’ creativity in the digital arts. The third annual Downtown Digital Arts Festival, April 12-14, showcases work by student artists in animation, digital design, digital photography and video. All events are free and open to the public. The DDAF will be held in the fourth floor Conference Center in WD.

Wednesday, May 25, marks the day that the M.A.N. Initiative will showcase the great men who are right here in our college community.

Child Development center hosts Mimi Chenfeld
The Week of the Young Child is April 11-15, and the Columbus State Child Development Center would like to invite employees to their “Celebrate Children” event on Wednesday, April 13, from 6:15 to 7:30 p.m. Mimi Chenfeld, renowned early childhood educator, will be on hand providing an hour of music, dance and fun! Refreshments will be served. This event will be held at the Child Development Center, located at the corner of Grant Avenue and Grove Street. Families from the Child Development Center as well as students and their children are invited. Please join us!
Medication Disposal Day is April 30
OhioHealth will host the third annual Medication Disposal Day April 30 at seven of its health system facilities for central Ohio communities. Bring your expired and unused prescription and over-the-counter medications to one of the locations listed and law enforcement officers will dispose of these medications in a safe, legal and environmentally conscious manner.

Jazz Ensemble to perform Wednesday
The new Columbus State Jazz Ensemble will perform its debut concert Wednesday, April 13, at 7:30 p.m. in the Nestor Hall student lounge. The free concert will feature a variety of big band jazz, Latin and rock styles. Come hear this outstanding new band and enjoy some great jazz in the lounge! OSU premiers film “No Woman, No Cry”

Ohio State’s College of Public Health will debut the film” No Woman, No Cry” created by Christy Turlington Burns, a model, mother and student in public health at Columbia University, Wednesday, April 13, at 7 p.m. in Mershon Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.
Turlington Burns made the film after a personal experience with childbirth complications. Her story and those of the other women are compellingly captured through this film.
Please join The Ohio State University College of Public Health and Christy Turlington Burns for a free screening and panel discussion following the film.

Try biking to work on In-Service Day!
Spring is coming, gas prices are going up and parking can be difficult to find. Break free from the commuting grind and try biking to work! Use In-Service Day, April 22, to test your legs and your wheels by partnering with fellow employees for a relaxed ride to and from work.
On April 22, several employees will lead small group rides to work from various public parking places around town. You can join for a full ride or meet in the middle for part of a ride. All rides will arrive at Columbus State by 8:30 a.m. You can access Fitness Center locker rooms that morning if you send your advance request, along with your Cougar ID number, to Heather Borland. Afternoon departure times will be mutually agreed upon by each ride group.
To prepare for the ride, please join one or more brown bag information sessions on Thursday, April 14, where we will discuss how to safely lead or participate in a ride. Riders must sign a waiver to participate in the rides.

Shredding to be offered on In-Service Day
Iron Mountain Secure Shredding service will be on campus on April 22, from 12 -2 p.m. to conduct in-person secure shredding. If you have stacks of personal papers either at home or in your office space, this is the time to destroy them properly. Rain or shine, Iron Mountain’s truck will be in parking lot 3E during this time. If you have any questions, please call Rob Clifford at ext. 3686.
Columbus State, OSU collaborate on Supplier Open House

Columbus State and The Ohio State University collaborated on their first Supplier Open House event March 30 in the Fawcett Center at OSU. The event was held to bring buyers and minority suppliers together in an effort to increase the supplier’s opportunities to do business with each college.
The March 30 open house focused on computer hardware/software and promotional products. In attendance were local suppliers as well as suppliers from all around Ohio. Suppliers attended a general “how to do business with” session and met one-on-one with buyers from both Ohio State and Columbus State.
Dwight Smith, former Columbus State Board member and founder/CEO of Sophisticated Systems, served as the keynote speaker. Then open house was attended by about 25 buyers and sellers.
Columbus State’s Latino/Latina student club is live!
Would you like to connect people who share your Hispanic heritage? Are you interested in learning more about other cultures and the Spanish language? Introducing ¿Qué Pasa?, the new student club that will provide support, interaction, education, outreach, and advocacy for issues that affect the Hispanic community on all campuses of Columbus State. Theatre Roundtable and Theatre Columbus State hold annual Theater Workshops
April 16
The annual Theater Workshops event will be held in the Columbus State Conference Center on Saturday, April 16. The workshops are limited to only 100 participants.
Some of the workshops include: My Character, Myself with Steve Black; Exploring Authentic Movement Styles with Michael Thomas; and Selling Yourself as a Singer with Thom Gall.
